Situating tool

Situating tool is an application that helps to situate learners’ in an environment to experience the context and happenings.

Examples:

ü  Simulations (flight, farming, surgery, environment, driving, HistoryCity, SimCity, play station)

ü  Virtual Reality (VR)

The importance of situating tools

ü  Comprehend & manipulate variables

ü  Communicate with other users login

ü  Foster creativity & visualization skills

ü  Integration into teaching learning

When a certain real-life experience is impossible or difficult to attain, situating tool is used.

Simulations are programs (associated with constructivism) that teach strategies and rules which are made to apply to real life situations:

         computer presents simulations of real learning situations

         makes learner to take decisions

         shows the effect of the decisions

         provides opportunities to interact with the real life situations without danger, expense or difficulty

         solves simulated real life problems

         manipulates the elements of the model as the computer provides feedback

         invokes learners’ conceptual understanding & higher order thinking skills

If this tool was there during my high school days i would have fulfilled my ambition of becoming a doctor. Since I couldn’t achieve my dream I will help my students to become a doctor or what they are desired to be, by using this simulation tool meaningfully.
